With the use of hyperlinks there are several ways to access the tools and information items from the Economic Developer module. The three most common ways are:
Local Employment Dynamics (LED) provides what is referred to as Quality Workforce Indicators (QWI). Local decision makers - employers, workers, transportation agencies, education and training institutions and economic development agencies - need current local data to make decisions. The U.S. Census Bureau states that the new LED Quarterly Workforce Indicators series provides just that: regularly updated information about where workers and clients are, what industries are hiring workers, what workers get paid and so much more.
Data is available based on both the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) and the North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) industry coding schemas. Geographies that can be queried are counties, metro areas and workforce information boards (WIB).
Industry Focus, part of the US Census Bureau - Local Employment Dynamics, has detailed industry employment and wage information. The report provides age and gender breakouts by Employment, Growth in Employment, Growth in hiring, Number of new hires, Firm Job Change, Average monthly earnings for all workers, Growth in average monthly earnings for all workers, and Average monthly earnings for new hires.
LocationOne Information System (LOIS) is a marketing tool for Economic Development organizations. LOIS manages a centralized database and provides internet access to information about local communities and their real estate markets. LOIS describes themselves as "an on-line searchable economic development database that provides detailed information on buildings, sites and locations for businesses looking to expand."
The Location Quotient Calculator is a tool from the Bureau of Labor Statistics that creates, on demand, tables of private sector employment data by industry, as measured by the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) program. The calculator allows the ready comparison of relative employment levels in the United States, states, counties, and Metropolitan Statistical Areas (Metro SA).
The Top & Bottom 5 query allows you to answer the question "How are detailed industries changing?" by creating a report by county or state of the Top and Bottom five 3-digit NAICS industries. You can choose from job growth, job growth percent, share of local employment, and average annual wage for both the top & bottom 5 industries.
The Large Employer Search is presented to give an understanding of the types and sizes of companies and industries that employ workers in Wisconsin. Select the area type, area, ownership, and industry sector you are interested in and press Get Data for a list of the top 25 employers. This information is updated on a quarterly basis.
For greater detail about an employer, select an employer name from the top 25 list to view the establishments owned by that parent company. Select one of these establishments and the employer profile for that location is provided. For those employers who do not have multiple establishments, the employer profile is displayed right away.

County summaries provide a snapshot view of county's top industries, and employers. You'll find select data on population, top paying occupations, unemployment rate, and more. Select the county of interest either from the map or from one of two lists to the left of the map.
Business Stats is a business resource from the WI Department of Commerce for online statistics, publications, analysis and more of Wisconsin businesses and industries.
